  • A Farewell To The Season, With Gratitude

As the last days of October draw in, a deep and respectful bow from the whole company of Fur & Fortune. To every cat who ascended our staircase, sat upon our cushions, sniffed our perfumes, and wept at our prices, we offer our sincere thanks.

The winter season approaches, with tinsel and treats and a sleigh in the Atrium drawn by two stuffed reindeer. We shall open on the first of November at nine o’clock sharp, whiskers waxed, lift polished, and Miss Pounce in her best gloves. Until then, dear patrons, rest well, eat generously, and mind the step.

  • Quarterly Address By The Proprietor

Ladies, Gentlemen and Distinguished Felines, I rise before you, as the third quarter draws to a close, to report that Fur & Fortune has welcomed 41,200 visitors, sold 6,314 cushions, and caused only four serious incidents involving the staircase and a hat stand.

I extend my gratitude to our staff, from Miss Pounce in the lift to Mr. Clank at the door, and to the patrons whose custom keeps our brass bright. We stand on the brink of autumn with our heads high, our whiskers waxed, and our stock of tinsel stored securely in the cellar. Thank you. That will be all. Kindly mind the step.

  • A Welcome To The Autumn Collection

Ladies, Gentlemen and Distinguished Felines, September is upon us, and with it the Autumn Collection. Be assured that every window, from the Ground Floor Perfumery to the Fifth Floor Tea Room, has been arranged to echo the colours of the turning leaf: russet, ochre, and a bold shade of burnt biscuit.

Fur and Fortune is delighted to present an array of woollens, wraps, and warm things, including the new Duchess Collar in lined velvet and the Tuftington Throw, woven from the wool of a hundred contented sheep. Be warned: the Autumn Sale queue forms early and has been known to wrap twice around the block. Bring a flask, a friend, and a sense of occasion.

  • A Proclamation For The Summer Season

Ladies, Gentlemen and Distinguished Felines, it is with the keenest pleasure that Fur & Fortune declares its Summer Season open. Beneath the great glass dome of the Atrium, the fans have been polished, the awnings unfurled, and the Information Desk has been swept of its customary crumbs.

All six floors will be at your service, from the Ground Floor Perfumery to the lofty Sixth Floor Observatory, where a telescope has been installed for viewing pigeons at a distance of one hundred and ten yards. Be pleased to wear light fur. Be prepared to be impressed. And be advised that the Floorwalker, Sir Reginald, will be nodding at everybody from eleven o’clock.
